Development of a weighted composite score for measuring cognitive decline Lead Investigator: Sarah Monsell Institution : NACC E-Mail : Proposal ID : 171 Proposal Description: Abstract: A battery of neuropsychological tests are given to patients in order to monitor their change in cognition over time. The current popular method of analysis involves (1) creating a standardized score for each test, (2) averaging the standardized tests within domain, and then (3) averaging all the domains to create a single standardized test score. At the same time, several studies have shown that there is variation in the ability of the different domains and tests within domains to predict decline to AD dementia. With this knowledge, we may be able to create more sensitive cognitive composite scores by weighting the domains. The goal of this analysis is to explore options for weighting.
